Point of no return

After cutting the frets, laying and plaining the skunk stripe, Laying the truss rod, we are ready to glue the fret board.  22 frets.  It is clamped and in place.  We had to make sure that the fingerboard was cut and placed on the neck exactly where we wanted.

neat tool

Radius gauge.  I like the shape and feel of my 62 reissue neck. Using this gauge helped me put a number with  a picture on it. Come to learn it is not the neck contour, but simply the "thinness" of this neck.  Easy to copy that. Plenty of hand sanding.

Here we are so far

Here is the rough neck and fingerboard

The truss rod

Laying the truss rod was interesting.  This is before gluing the rosewood fingerboard.

Frets

I am putting a rosewood fingerboard on the maple neck.  You get to use a fret scale 25.5 fender.  You make a mark at each point, make is square then using this homemade jig, saw each fret slot.  Very time consuming and required much patience. Good lessons.

Skunk stripe plained

Skunk Stripe

Puting in a skunk stripe for the neck. Purely for looks.  Got to use a belt sander and plained the neck.
